The Zazu Football School, which will be run former Malta Under-21 national coach Ray 'Zazu' Farrugia, was launched during a press conference at the Westin Dragonara Resort on Monday. The Zazu Football School, which is open for children aged 5 to 14, will be based at the University Grounds, from Monday to Friday between 4:30 and 6:00. After playing for Floriana, Ray Farrugia moved to Australia where he played for 12 years for Paramatta Melita Eagles. In Australia, he became a qualified coach and back in Malta, he joined Naxxar Lions as a player coach. Farrugia then had a successful four-year spell with the Malta

Under-21 side before joining General Sports Enterprises, a company which runs another football school. In the mean time, he was appointed coach of Pietà Hotspurs.

The coaching staff consists of Ray 'Zazu' Farrugia, Marko Glumac and Sliema goalkeeper Murphy Akanji as goalkeepers' coach.

Farrugia is in fact in contact with Manchester United discussing the possibility of taking two teams from the school to play there next summer. The fee is Lm 35.40 which includes the official kit consisting of a shirt, shorts and socks. Farrugia thanked the sponsors for having full faith in his project. The school is sponsored by Teamsport, Konica Minolta, PJ Sutters, Ranieri Cafe and Chez Gaetan.
