Post #53:  Lunch at Passmore's and Visit to Mosta Dome

On Thursday, we had a relaxing morning, and then we went to Eve's house for lunch. Had a great visit again, and Dave got to meet this adorable family. We have yet to meet Eve's hubby, Ben. He's been working, while we've been visiting.

Nichole and DeDe had a bloggable moment at the Passmore home. We ate snails! Yep, the old escargot! I don't think it was actually a first for me, but it's been a long time, and I told Eve, as I was leaving, that I may just adopt a vegan lifestyle after that experience. Actually, they weren't all that bad, having been sauteed and all. They tasted like mushrooms. No... more like, felt like mushrooms! As Ian used to say when he tasted strange things, back when he was three, “It makes my head wanna shake!”

After our visit, we drove first to the craft village, so the other boys could see the glass-blowers. Then they enjoyed picking up scrap pieces of glass on the street outside the factory. Colorful gems, with dulled edges, the kids felt they'd carried off treasures.

From there, we drove the short distance to Mosta to see the incredibly large Mosta Dome. This immensely ornate church is famed for having had a bomb drop through the roof during a service in 1942, and yet nobody was injured as the bomb did not detonate. It's now set in the gift shop behind the altar, and it's marked with a sign, “The Miracle Bomb.”

It was pouring rain as we stepped out of the church. We decided to call it a day, and get home for an early meal. Every night, we hope to either play cards or watch movies, but the meal process has been taking so long that it's bedtime by the time we get everything cleaned up.
